1. The original population that resides or in habits in the Regional of Karo Regency is called Karo Ethnique. Karo ethnique has customs and traditions which is maintained kindly and legally bound in the ethnique itself.

The ethnic has five parts, namely Merga, tutur siwaluh, and rakut sitelu.

Merga Silima/family name namely:

  • Karo-Karo
  • Ginting
  • Sembiring
  • Tarigan
  • Perangin-angin

From the five family name can be found sub merga/sub family name. By relating to merga is arranged the pattern Relatively which is known Rakut Sitelu, Tutur Siwaluh and Perkade-kaden sepuluh dua tambah sada/the ten language relative.

Rakut sitelu namely:

  • Senina/Sembuyak = brother/sister
  • Kalimbubu = father/mother in law
  • Anak beru = The workers of ritual tradition

Tutur siwaluh namely:

  • sipemeren
  • Siparibanen
  • Sipengalon
  • Anak Beru
  • Anak beru menteri
  • Anak beru singikuri
  • Kalimbubu
  • Puang kalimbubu

in the development, the custom of Karo ethnique is openly and transparently, it is mean that the other ethnic who is being in Indonesia can be accepted to Karo ethnic by following some requirements.

2. The society of Karo welknown of its spirit in the movement of struggling Indonesia in freedom such as: The battlefield with Dutch, Japan, earting fire. The patriotism can be seen by seeing the state funeral that is established 1950.

3. The population of Karo Regency is dynamic, patriotic and believing to Almighty God. The society of Karo depends on it original custom, and would be invested, useful for the process of the development in the living of Karo Society is expected to reach out for and touch the three main points: be fruitful; be profitable; be exciting.

  • Tuah is meant tobe blessed by almighty God to get descendant and mates and also conservated the natural resource; living environment for the youth generations.
  • Sangap is meant to get fortune and welfare for himself/herself; family member; for the society and also for the youth generation.
  • Mejuah-juah is meant to get healthy, peace and welfare; balancing with human beings and environment. These cases are absolutely united and cannot separate each other.
